Overview
The AI-901 exam is the updated version of Azure AI Fundamentals, with a stronger focus on modern AI concepts, especially generative AI and agent-based scenarios. It remains an entry-level certification, but reflects how AI is actually being used today.
What AI-901 is about
AI-901 tests your ability to:
Understand core AI concepts and capabilities
Recognise AI workloads from real-world scenarios
Understand generative AI and agentic AI
Identify responsible AI considerations
The ability to read and interpret code (Python) is required — this is about understanding and application, not implementation or writing code. However reading code is new to fundamentals exams. Do not be deterred from answering Python based questions if you are not a confident coder you ability to answer these Python based drag and drop questions. Since your ability to answer this type of questions will be informed by your knowledge of AI concepts rather than experience of writing Python.
